How to Apply

(1) Eligibility

  1. You are enrolled as a full-time student in a 3- or 4-year bachelor’s degree program from our partner universites or organizations outside of Japan, and have already completed a minimum of one semester.
  2. You have an overall 2.5 GPA based on a 4.0 grading scale (or applicable equivalent).
  3. You received your official education in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom or the United States in the English language for the most recent 6 years. -or- You have TOEFL iBT 79, IELTS 6.0 or equivalent level of English.

(2) Deadline

Please refer to the Admission Schedule for the application deadline.

(3) Application

Please prepare and submit the following 6 items before the application deadline (click to open).

These items should be submitted online via the application form below.

**The requirement to submit item 5 is waived for students who have received their official education in the English language for the most recent 6 years .

There is no need to send us any originals by postal mail.

1) Application Form (Online)

After submitting the application form, you will receive a confirmation by e-mail. Please contact us by e-mail if you wish to make any corrections to your application – jsp@tiu.ac.jp.

2) Proof of Enrollment (copy)

A letter from the registrar of your college or university stating your current status and expected date of graduation.

3) Official Transcript (copy)

The transcript must be from the most recently completed semester or term of your college or university, showing your cumulative academic work.

4) Two Letters of Recommendation (copy)

Recommendations must be from the faculty or administration officer of your college or university, printed on your university’s letterhead with his/her signature and the date of signing. Each letter must include the contact information (address, telephone number, fax number and email address) of the person who provided it. Letters should address your academic ability, emotional maturity, ability to adjust to new situations, and ability to cooperate with others.Applicants from Willamette university and ISEP organizations are only required to submit one letter of recommendation.

5) English Proficiency Test Score Certificate (copy)

Applicants must submit a copy of their English Proficiency Test Score Certificate (see (1) Eligibility). If you cannot submit the score certificate by the application deadline, please contact us directly.

Applicants who have undertaken their official education in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom or the United States in the English language for the most recent 6 years are not required to submit an English test score.

6) Medical History (PDF)

Tokyo International University requires the medical history of each student for reference and in case of emergencies. The form below must be personally filled out with accurate information to the best of your knowledge.

(4) Admission Results

Application results will only be announced after the application deadline. Please refer to the Admission Schedule for the announcement dates of the admission results.
