JSP field trip: making Japanese traditional pottery

Japan is famous for its high quality clay and perfection of pottery making techniques. To learn more about one of the Japan’s oldest art forms, our JSP students of Spring 2016 visited a crafting center not very far from Tokyo International University’s campus, where they can learn the art of pottery making from the artisans. Some students tried painting and glazing pottery, while the other group try to make dishes by hand from wet clay. Let’s have a look at the pottery-making process and their masterpieces:
